FACT vs. FICTION

FICTION:

You have to exercise to lose weight.

FACT:

You can lose weight without ever stepping foot in a gym.

Now before you stop reading...

I'm not saying exercise isn't important. Far from it.

Here's the truth.

Weight loss happens when your body burns more calories than it takes in. That means nutrition plays the biggest role in whether the number on the scale goes down.

Exercise, however, does something just as important.

It helps you build and preserve muscle. It strengthens your heart. It improves your balance, mobility, endurance, mental health, and energy. It makes everyday life easier and helps you keep the weight off once you've lost it.

In other words...

Nutrition helps you lose the weight.

Exercise helps you live the life.

Too many people delay improving their health because they think they have to spend an hour in the gym every day. The truth is, if changing your eating habits is all you can manage right now, that's a fantastic place to start.

Then begin moving.

Take a walk.

Do a few chair squats.

Stretch while you watch TV.

Park a little farther away.

Progress doesn't require perfection. It requires taking the next right step.

Coach's Porch Thought

One of the biggest mistakes we make is believing we have to do everything before we do anything.

Don't wait until you have the perfect workout plan.

Start by making the next healthy choice.

Small, consistent choices have a way of becoming life-changing transformations.
