Consistency Over Perfection

We've all heard someone say, "Just be consistent." It sounds simple enough, but if we're honest, consistency can be one of the hardest things to achieve.
Over the last five years, I've spent a lot of time trying to become a better version of myself. Not because I think I've arrived, but because I believe we're all supposed to continue growing. Along that journey, I've also tried to find ways to help others improve their own lives.
What I've discovered keeps coming back to two simple truths.
The first is consistency.
Not perfection. Not intensity. Not motivation. Consistency.
Motivation comes and goes. Some mornings you wake up excited to tackle the day. Other mornings you'd rather stay in bed and pretend Monday doesn't exist. If you only move when motivation shows up, you'll spend a lot of time standing still.
Consistency is different.
Consistency says, "I'm going to do what I can today."
Some days you'll have a fantastic workout. Some days you'll only have enough energy for a walk around the block. Both count.
Some days you'll prepare healthy meals all week. Other days life gets busy and you simply make the best choice available. That counts too.
Progress isn't built by having perfect days. It's built by stacking enough good days together that they become your lifestyle.
The second truth is this...
Perfection doesn't exist.
Life has a funny way of reminding us that we're not in complete control. Cars break down. Kids get sick. Jobs become stressful. Unexpected bills appear. Injuries happen. Relationships require attention.
Life happens.
The mistake many people make is believing one bad day erased all the good ones before it.
It didn't.
Missing one workout doesn't ruin your fitness.
Eating one unhealthy meal doesn't erase months of healthy eating.
Having one difficult week doesn't mean you've failed.
It simply means you're human.
The goal isn't to avoid life's interruptions. The goal is learning how to adapt without quitting.
One of my favorite sayings is, "Life Happens."
I've said it for years because it's true.
But here's what I've learned...
When we consistently take care of ourselves—physically, mentally, and spiritually—we're much better equipped to handle whatever life throws our way.
We don't eliminate the storms.
We become stronger in them.
So today, don't chase perfection.
Just keep showing up.
One choice.One workout.One healthy meal.One encouraging conversation.
Those small choices become the life you're building.
Have a healthy and blessed day.
